Confined Space Awareness Course Overview:

Our Confined Space Awareness course aims to equip participants with an understanding of the inherent risks associated with confined space work and strategies to mitigate those risks. Offered over 1 or 2 days, our courses furnish participants with the requisite knowledge and competencies for confined space rescue, encompassing the utilization of Escape Breathing Apparatus, Full Breathing Apparatus, and Airline Breathing Apparatus.

Objectives of the Confined Space Awareness Course:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define the roles and responsibilities of confined space entrants, observers, and supervisors.
  • Comprehend confined space rescue protocols.
  • Outline the procedures for obtaining a confined space entry permit.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating gas detection equipment.

Confined Space Awareness Course Curriculum:

DAY 1 – Low and Medium Risk Confined Spaces:

  • Definition and identification of confined spaces and associated hazards.
  • Awareness of hazardous atmospheres, access equipment, and escape sets.
  • Implementation of safe work practices and procedures.
  • Emergency planning and rescue protocols.
  • Utilization of gas detection equipment and hygiene control.
  • Overview of relevant legislation and regulations.

DAY 2 – High Risk Confined Spaces:

  • Utilization of Full Working and Airline Breathing Apparatus.
  • Understanding respirator rates and working durations of SCBA.
  • Practical application of working breathing apparatus.
  • Provision of additional Airline Breathing Apparatus upon request.

Training Methodologies:

  • PowerPoint presentations supplemented with instructional videos.
  • Interactive problem-solving sessions and case studies.
  • Personal issuance of equipment and instructions.
  • Simulation exercises conducted in a Confined Space Simulator.

Who Should Attend

  • Individuals involved in confined space entry.
  • Management responsible for developing safe work systems.

Additional Information:

  • Maximum of 10 participants per session.
  • Both 1-day and 2-day courses are available.
  • Successful completion of the course awards participants with a Certificate of Competency valid for 3 years.
