Course Description
- Role of the Slinger/Signaller: Understanding the responsibilities in the safe lifting process, including the correct use of hand signals and radios.
- Safe Load Handling: Training on securely attaching and detaching loads to prevent accidents and ensure stability during crane movement.
- Communication and Signaling: Clear signaling techniques for crane operators to avoid hazards and maintain precise load control.
- Risk Assessment and Safety Practices: Identifying potential risks, adhering to safety standards, and ensuring the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Morning:
- Introduction & Registration
- Skills Validation which incorporates the above plus PowerPoint presentation (SOLAS)
- Pre inspection of lifting gear and certification of both the crane and lifting gear
- Introduction to and use of hand signals
- Introduction to and use of Two way radios and outlining no of lifts to be carried out
- On Site practical familiarisation with the machine. This is followed by the theory exams which will lead to break time
Afternoon:
Each candidate will be allowed a specific timeframe to complete the tasks required.
Candidates must complete these tasks in that recommended timeframe and must demonstrate that he/she has the necessary skills, ability and knowledge base to complete the tasks required of them.
