The aim of the NPORS 360° Excavator Above or Below 10 Tonnes Training Course is to provide delegates with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating a 360° Excavator to the NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) standard.
Successful delegates will be issued with a relevant NPORS Operators Card which is valid for 5 years.
The objectives of the course are to enable delegates to:
- Be able to operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and accepted good practice.
- Carry out a pre-shift inspection.
- Be able to operate safely under varying site conditions.
- Be able to carry out minor adjustments and routine services.
- Have sufficient knowledge and practical skills to successfully complete the NPORS assessment.
All personnel required to operate a 360° Excavator of any size. Delegates will participate in theory lessons and practical demonstrations and exercises covering:
- An introduction to the construction industry.
- Current relevant regulations.
- Introduction to machine.
- Pre-shift inspections.
- Controls and instruments.
- Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems.
- Trenching, back-filling, levelling and marking out.
- Excavating deep and shallow excavation.
- Other associated construction activities.
- Explanation of attachments.
- NPORS assessment, which includes theory and practical elements.
The duration of the training course depends on the experience and number of delegates, and the ratio of delegates / machines per Instructor. It is recommended that all delegates complete the NPORS specific health and safety test. All delegates will undertake the NPORS assessment and on successful completion will be issued with a relevant NPORS Operators Card which is valid for 5 years. All delegates must bring photo identification, this can include a valid Passport or Driving Licence. To book this course, or for further information, contact us. What does the NPORS 360 excavator course cover?
The course works through pre-shift inspections, machine controls and instruments, coolant, fuel and lubrication systems, and the regulations that apply on site. The practical side covers trenching, backfilling and levelling, deep and shallow excavation, and working with attachments, before the NPORS assessment.
Can the course be run at our own site?
Yes. Training can take place at your own premises provided the facilities meet the NPORS test criteria — for a machine course that means having a suitable 360 excavator and a safe working area available on the day. Otherwise the course runs at our approved test centre in Co. Offaly.
