First Aid Response (FAR) Blended Learning

You will receive an email with an access link to the online portion. You will have 60 days to complete all sections of the First Aid Responder blended learning course. After finishing the online modules, you’ll have continued access to review any module until the 60-day period ends. Proof of completion is required before attending the classroom section, and UFAS will verify completion before issuing certification. Certification will not be provided without completing both online and classroom elements.

Students unable to prove online completion should not attend the classroom portion, as participation will be denied. On arrival, you will complete a 20-question MCQ and must score at least 60% to proceed. Please wear comfortable clothing, do not attend if you feel unwell, and notify the trainer of any special needs or medical conditions on the day.

Description

There are 10 modules to complete and you can only progress from one module to the other by completing each module. On completion of the online modules you will have access to your certificate of completion. You will also receive an email confirming the theory section is completed.

  • Module 1: Incident procedures
  • Module 2: Patient assessment
  • Module 3: Common medical emergencies
  • Module 4: Injury management & shock (part 1)
  • Module 5: Injury management & shock (part 2)
  • Module 6: Head injuries
  • Module 7: Burns / electrical injury
  • Module 8: Hyperthermia / Hypothermia
  • Module 9: Information management
  • Module 10: The well-being of the First Aid Responder

You will be asked to provide proof of completion of the online theory modules when you attend the classroom section. Without this evidence you will not be allowed complete the classroom section of the course


Classroom Section

A minimum of 9 hours classroom sessions (not including breaks) the in person training session may be scheduled in accordance with the Leaners needs and learning environment.

  • All practical skills such as CPR / AED for all age groups, Medical emergencies, trauma emergencies to be demonstrated, and practiced.
  • All students will be assessed by the trainer during this section of the FAR course.
  • A 20 multiple choice questionnaire will also be carried out during the classroom section of the course

Course Requirements

Participants should be physically capable of performing CPR and other practical skills, such as relieving choking, placing someone in the recovery position, and applying bandages to injured limbs.

Renewals

To maintain your qualification beyond the initial two-year certification period, you will need to undertake a refresher course. The refresher course consists of a two-day training designed to update and reinforce the knowledge and skills acquired during the initial training. A valid First Aid Response certificate is a prerequisite for participating in the refresher course.
