The aim of the PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) course is to equip participants with essential first aid skills and knowledge, adhering to the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) standards. This course is ideal for organizations, companies, schools, childcare providers, and individuals seeking to ensure compliance with first aid requirements. This course is recommended for employees in organizations, schools, childcare centers, or any individual who needs to develop or refresh their first aid skills. The PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) course offers two learning options:
- 18 hours of in-person training over 3 days (6 hours per day)
- 50% online and 50% classroom-based
- The online portion is a minimum of 9 hours, followed by a classroom-based practical skills session
- Students must complete the online theory first and bring their certificate of completion to the practical session.
Key topics covered include:
- Essential first aid procedures
- Practical skills to respond to medical emergencies
- Theoretical knowledge aligned with PHECC guidelines
The full FAR course is a minimum of 18 hours, while the recertification course requires 12 hours. Students choosing the blended option will complete 9 hours online and 9 hours in the classroom for the full FAR course, or 6 hours online and 6 hours in the classroom for the recertification course. All students must complete the online portion of the course prior to attending the practical session. Failure to provide proof of online completion will result in exclusion from the practical skills section. Upon successful completion of the full course, participants will receive a PHECC FAR certificate valid for 2 years. Recertification is required before the certificate expires, as there is no grace period once the certificate has lapsed.
Recertification Options
- 2-Day Classroom Recertification Course (6 hours per day)
- Blended Learning Recertification (50% online and 50% classroom-based)
To enroll in the blended learning option, participants must complete a course registration form with their name and email address. Upon registration, they will receive an email from the Learning Management System (LMS) with login details to access the online portion of the course.
Participants have 60 days to complete both the online and practical sections of their course. After 60 days, access to the online modules will expire.
- Full FAR course: €30 per participant for the online portion
- FAR Recertification: €20 per participant for the online portion
