Course Objectives & Description

The IPAF PAV Operator category focuses on the safe operation of Push Around Vertical (PAV) machines. These machines are typically manually pushed while in the lowered position and can be elevated vertically either by battery power or by using a manual winding mechanism. PAVs may be equipped with outriggers or stabilisers for enhanced stability.

The course objective is to equip delegates with the essential knowledge required to operate PAV Push Around Vertical machines efficiently and safely.

IPAF Harness Training can be scheduled for the afternoon of the PAV training day, depending on prior notice and the number of attendees.

On-Site Training

On-site training is also available at your premises across the UK and Ireland, subject to minimum participant requirements. A suitable room is required for the theory section, and a Push Around Vertical machine must be available for practical training. Participants should also provide the Operator’s Manual and a current 6-month Certificate of Thorough Examination for the machine.

Certification

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an IPAF PAL Card valid for 5 years and an IPAF Certificate of Training for the PAV category. Each delegate will also receive an IPAF safety guide and an IPAF logbook on the training day. Photographs for the operator card will be taken on-site and are included in the course fee.

Candidates for IPAF courses must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Be medically fit to operate machinery
  • PPE Requirements

Trainees must provide and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including:

  • Hard Hat
  • Safety Boots
  • Hi-Visibility Vest
  • Depending on company policy regarding the use of harnesses and lanyards in PAVs,
  • Participants may also need to bring a Harness and Adjustable Restraint Lanyard.

Who Should Attend?

This IPAF PAV Operator training course is suitable for anyone who operates or supervises the use of Push Around Vertical machines, including models such as Genie IWP, Genie AWP, and Pecolift.
