NPORS - TRAINING COURSES IRELAND

NPORS Training Courses Ireland

Established in 1992, the National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS) has grown to become one of the leading accreditation and registration bodies, serving the Construction, Industrial, Utilities, Warehousing, Distribution, Agricultural, Ports, and Marine sectors. NPORS offers a flexible approach to training and certification, ensuring compliance with industry standards both nationally and internationally, while partnering with industry experts and accredited training providers.

NPORS Training Courses with Construction Qualifications

In 2017, JPC Plant & Safety became an accredited training provider for NPORS plant operator courses. Our training programs can be conducted either at our training centre in Rhode, County Offaly, or on-site at the customer’s location, provided the necessary facilities are available.

All NPORS training and testing is carried out in line with published course objectives and learning outcomes, which are based on National Occupational Standards (NOS). The training involves both theory and practical assessments to ensure participants meet the required competency levels.

NPORS Training Dublin:

  • Experienced Operator – 1-Day Course: This course focuses solely on testing for experienced operators who do not require additional training.
  • Novice or Refresher Course: Spanning several days, this course includes both training and testing for those new to plant operation or needing to refresh their skills.

HOW DO I GET A NPORS OPERATOR CARD?

Upon successful completion of training and assessment, participants will receive an NPORS Operator Card. This card serves as proof of an individual’s ability to operate plant machinery or equipment safely. NPORS registration is valid for either three or five years, depending on the initial assessment date.

Before enrolling, JPC Plant & Safety will conduct a pre-assessment to determine each candidate’s level of experience and the appropriate training route (novice, operator, or experienced operator).

WHAT ARE CSCS NPORS CARDS?

NPORS offers CSCS cards for plant operators, which are similar to CPCS operator cards. These cards demonstrate that the operator has met the necessary safety and competency requirements.

CSCS NPORS Operator Card Process:

  1. Red Operator Card (2 Years): After passing both the practical and theory tests, you will be issued a Red Operator Card.
  2. Blue Competent Operator Card (5 Years): To obtain this, operators must register and complete an appropriate S/NVQ within two years of receiving the Red Operator Card. The Blue Card demonstrates full competency and is valid for five years.

Before taking the CSCS NPORS tests, candidates must pass the Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) test, which must have been completed within the previous two years.

HOW DO I RENEW MY NPORS CARD?

Operators can renew their NPORS cards in two ways:

  1. Employer Verification: An employer signs a renewal form verifying that the operator has maintained a high standard in their role and has been accident-free.
  2. Refresher Training: The operator can complete refresher training for the relevant categories to renew their card.
