The aim of the NPORS Construction Site Safety Scheme (CSSS) is to equip delegates with the essential health and safety knowledge and skills necessary for operating safely on a construction site. This includes training for operatives, supervisors, and managers to ensure they understand and manage risks and environmental matters effectively, all in line with NPORS standards. All personnel involved in construction site operations, from operatives to managers. The NPORS Construction Site Safety Scheme includes a variety of courses tailored to different roles on a construction site. These courses are approved by CITB, allowing for grant claims:
- Site Safety Awareness (SSA) – 7 hours
- Construction Site Safety Supervisor (CSSS) – 15 hours
- Construction Site Safety Supervisor Refresher (CSSS R) – 7.5 hours
- Construction Site Safety Manager (CSSM) – 37.5 hours
- Construction Site Safety Manager Refresher (CSSM R) – 15 hours
All courses within the scheme are recognised by BuildUK.

The duration of the course varies depending on the specific role and the course undertaken. For instance, the Site Safety Awareness Course is 7 hours, while the Construction Site Safety Manager Course takes 37.5 hours to complete. On successful completion of the NPORS assessment, delegates will receive the NPORS Operators Card, valid for 5 years. Delegates must complete NPORS-specific health and safety tests as part of the course. All delegates must bring valid photo identification (Passport or Driving Licence) to the course.
