NPORS Ride On Roller Training Course
The NPORS Ride On Roller Training Course is designed to equip delegates with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to operate a Ride On Roller in compliance with NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) standards.
Certification:
Upon successful completion, delegates will receive a relevant NPORS Operators Card, valid for 5 years.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Operate the Ride On Roller safely and correctly, adhering to manufacturer’s instructions and accepted industry best practices.
- Conduct thorough pre-shift inspections to ensure machine readiness.
- Navigate and operate effectively under varying site conditions.

- Acquire the knowledge and practical skills necessary to successfully complete the NPORS assessment.

Course Content:
Delegates will engage in a combination of theoretical lessons and practical demonstrations covering the following topics:
- Introduction to the construction industry and its practices.
- Overview of current relevant regulations.
- Detailed introduction to the Ride On Roller, including its controls and instruments.
- Procedures for pre-shift inspections.
- Understanding coolant, fuel, and lubrication systems.
- Techniques for rolling and compacting surfaces.
- Correct application of staggers and overlaps during operation.
- Maintaining cambers and cross-falls for effective drainage.
- Compaction techniques for junctions.
- NPORS assessment, which includes both theoretical and practical components.
Course Duration:
The length of the training course is flexible, depending on the experience level of the delegates, the number of participants, and the ratio of delegates to machines per instructor.

- It is recommended that all delegates complete the NPORS-specific health and safety test prior to the course.
- Delegates must present valid photo identification, such as a passport or driving licence.
