The aim of the NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper Training Course is to provide delegates with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating a Forward Tipping Dumper to the NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) standard.
Successful delegates will be issued with a relevant NPORS Operators Card which is valid for 5 years.
The objectives of the course are to enable delegates to:
- Be able to operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and accepted good practice.
- Understand the causes of instability of the truck and the load.
- Carry out a pre-shift inspection.
- Be able to operate safely under varying site conditions.
- Be able to position the vehicle for loading from and dumping into excavations etc.
- Have sufficient knowledge and practical skills to successfully complete the NPORS assessment.
All personnel required to drive a Site Dumper or Dump Truck. Delegates will participate in theory lessons and practical demonstrations and exercises covering:
- An introduction to the construction industry.
- Current relevant regulations.
- Introduction to machine.
- Pre-shift inspections.
- Controls and instruments.
- Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems.
- Driving loading and unloading.
- NPORS assessment, which includes theory and practical elements.
The duration of the training course depends on the experience and number of delegates, and the ratio of delegates / machines per Instructor. It is recommended that all delegates complete the NPORS specific health and safety test. All delegates will undertake the NPORS assessment and on successful completion will be issued with a relevant NPORS Operators Card which is valid for 5 years. All delegates must bring photo identification, this can include a valid Passport or Driving Licence. To book this course, or for further information, contact us. What does the NPORS forward tipping dumper course cover?
The course covers pre-shift inspections, controls and instruments, and the coolant, fuel and lubrication systems, then moves to driving, loading and unloading, the causes of truck and load instability, and positioning the dumper correctly for loading and dumping. Tracked and wheeled machines are both covered.
Can the course be run at our own site?
Yes. Training can take place at your own premises provided the facilities meet the NPORS test criteria — which means having a suitable forward tipping dumper and a safe working area available on the day. Otherwise the course runs at our approved test centre in Co. Offaly.
